Pill Time for Family – Features

Couple of years ago, my parents visited us and stayed with us for few months.  One day when my dad was sitting at the kitchen table and taking his regular medicines/pills.  While taking the pills, he got too many pills in his palm and some fell on the table and some rolled down to the floor.  So, he asked me to look for them and give them back to him.  This happened once and then again the next day and then one more time the day after, so I got worried, as to what is happening to him that he cannot take medication and drops them (or cannot handle the pills properly).

So I asked him whether he was okay and if he had any problems.  Then he told me that he had diabetes and arthritis.  But because he had diabetes, he was losing sensation on his fingertips and could not bend his fingers due to arthritis.  And therefore, he could not feel the holding of the pill bottle and the pills coming out of it.

EUREKA MOMENT:  This was my eureka moment that if he had this problem, then how many people in the world have diabetes and arthritis and would have this problem.  So I needed to create a pill dispenser that dispenses only ONE pill at a time and have FULL CONTROL over the bottle and the pill.  And it should be USER FRIENDLY so it can be used by EVERYONE for ANY SHAPE & SIZE pills.

This thought became the passion and force to come up with such a dispenser that would dispense only one pill at a time.  It took many trials, long hours, money and time (besides being a Realtor and a Dry Cleaner [our businesses] at that time) but my imagination and persuasion led me to design via 3D printing a single pill dispenser.  After hiring a Patent Agent, I finally received a Patent in 9 months.  The patent approval was quick because it was a unique design and not infringing on any other patents, style, parts, or design.

This further led me to design a Pill Reminder / Med Reminder App, that sends notifications to aging parents who forget to take their medications and or forget to take their medications on time.  The app was very successful and people liked it.  I have designed many features that are not available in other apps.
